Mental health support — for displaced Ukrainians, built in 2 months.

The SOLOMIYA network of 5 German and 20+ Ukrainian healthcare institutions needed a mental-health platform fast. The war had created widespread trauma — PTSD, anxiety, insomnia, acute stress — and traditional in-person services weren't reachable for displaced populations. We delivered backend, UX, and branding in 2 months with a 7-specialist team.

The challenge

Three problems — all at once.

The war in Ukraine had created widespread psychological distress among displaced populations — PTSD, anxiety, insomnia, acute stress disorders. Traditional in-person mental-health services weren't reachable for many who'd relocated across Europe.

The SOLOMIYA network — 5 German and 20+ Ukrainian healthcare institutions — needed a mobile-first solution delivering evidence-based therapeutic content and structured intervention protocols.

The platform demanded cultural sensitivity reflecting Ukrainian experiences while maintaining therapeutic effectiveness. And it had to ship in 2 months — distributed teams across Germany and Ukraine — to address immediate population needs.

What we did

Seven specific things.

  • 01Designed the UX, UI, logo, and core branding — including a logo combining a stylized lotus flower (enlightenment) with outstretched arms (growth and resilience)
  • 02Produced wireframes and clickable prototypes before development to validate the therapeutic flow with the SOLOMIYA clinical team
  • 03Built the backend (most of the app's logic), with the front-end developed by a parallel team in Germany — coordinated handoff across two countries
  • 04Implemented the assessment-and-recommendation engine: initial survey determines mental state and recommends matched meditation courses
  • 05Shipped weekly structured plans: educational videos, quizzes, intervention activities — patients unlock subsequent weeks after completing prior assessments
  • 06Built progress tracking using PHQ depression and insomnia checklists — weekly surveys reveal psychological condition trajectory
  • 07Added a rewards system: score awards for positive assessment results, with profile-level progress visualizations for motivation
